My AI design workflow
I use AI tools throughout my design process, from the first ideas to a tested, development-ready design. This is the workflow I follow, step by step, and how I choose the right tool for each part.
AI speeds up the work, but the judgement stays with me. I review what the tools produce before anything moves on, guided by my design principles for AI-supported products.
The workflow at a glance
- Explore design ideasChatGPT, Grok and Mobbin
- Generate interactive UIGrok or Claude Code
- Prototype and testGoogle Antigravity and testing in the browser
- Apply the design systemClaude with design system skills
- Transfer, review and refineFigma MCP, skills and my own review
How I choose the right AI tool
| Tool | How I use it |
|---|---|
| ChatGPT | Generate quick visual concepts and variations |
| Grok | Create rapid UI designs and interactive prototypes |
| Claude Code | Build complex interfaces and apply design system rules |
| Google Antigravity | Build additional pages, inspect them in the browser and run QA |
| Figma | Maintain design systems, variables and reusable components |
| Paper / Pencil | Design on an AI-connected canvas |
| Mobbin | Research existing UI patterns and create mood boards |
| Google Stitch | Explore generated screens and flows, always reviewing the result |
I choose the tool for the task rather than using one tool for everything. I compare design quality, generation time, token use and how easy the result is to edit, and I keep adjusting as the tools change.
